The G.O.A.T. Edition
Books, Studios and Poop
This week I started recording the first new creator conversations and had an incredibly insightful workshop around design thinking. As simple as it sounds it’s always good to stop to take the time to truthfully answer. Why did I start this? Who am I making it for? How do I want to transform their lives? My answer to the last one is to bring people one step closer to becoming a creator. 💛 Valentin
Creating for Decades
This episode of The Billion Dollar Creator gave me much-needed perspective on the timeline of being a creator. It’s easy to get trapped in following trends and chasing after short term rewards but not all media is created equal and some are more likely to stand the test of time.
Tim Grahl, one of the world's best book marketers, knows if a book has the potential to sell for decades. One of the key insights is that books like Atomic Habits didn’t stand out at first but because it was a good book that people easily could recommend to others it has become a self development staple that continues to hit bestseller lists.
So it’s no surprise that more creators are writing books and are exploring offline media. Maybe we should produce a podcast episode on a cassette tape? What do you think 😁?
Peter McKinnon’s Cowboy Studio
After a year of moving around furniture and replacing artwork the GOAT of Photography Tube finally gives us a tour of his creative workspace. It’s quite a change from the modern production cave that was his headquarters before and shows how his interests and taste have evolved. There are still elements of the modern black and white aesthetic that are reserved for equipment storage and his editor Kirk even gives a mini tour of the edit bay.
Is Chris Do Human?
Chris Do, founder of the futur, is known for giving perfect answers to any question creative professionals throw at him. Naturally they are centered around how to grow a freelance business, so it’s incredibly fun to see him react to much more silly questions.
And if you look at the rest of Alex Antolino’s Channel you can see how much content he got out of just one trip to a conference.
