What has the algorithm ever done for you?

Viewer satisfacion, minimlist hacks and morning routines

🎉 Can you believe this is already the 10th issue of the Orbit Newsletter?
I might be more shocked than anyone and never thought I would look forward to writing about anything once a week … but here we are.

The algorithm’s job is to follow the audience

If there ever was a video that every creator shared it’s this one.
Peter McKinnon invited Creator Liason Rene Ritchie to ask him all the questions about YouTube and the Algorithm. In it you can see Rene has realy grown into his role of building a bridge between creators and the platform and is giving as much insights as he can. The key takeaways from the conversations give a good insight to what really matters, no matter where you are on your creator journey.

  • YouTube's algorithm aims to make viewers happy.

  • It prioritizes viewer satisfaction over watch time and click-through rate.

  • A/B test thumbnails has been rolled out to more creators and will see a full release.

  • Thumbnail and video content should align to fulfill the promise made in the thumbnail.

  • Creators can choose to use analytics tools to optimize their content or hide aspects to focus on the craft.

For me this video will go into my playlist of videos I rewatch once a year.

A Minimalists guide to home organization

Since becoming a Dad you can really see Matt D’Avella returning back to classic formats and topics that initially grew his audience. In his latest video he shares 9 simple things that minimize chaos in their home while inventing a new genre of self-deprecating dad humor.
The one line I’ll forever remember is: Don’t put it down, put it away.
Maybe that mindset will bring some much needed order into life 😅

This weeks growth story

Diana has been making videos about life as a digital nomad for over two years on her channel called Lost in admiration. In that time she gained about 1K subscribers and averaged a few hundred views per video.

That was until she made a video about Andrew Huberman’s ideal morning routine which has 138K views to date and brought her subscriber count to over 5K. In it she follows the morning routine for a week and talks about how she adapted it to fit her lifestyle. The clean and intriguing packaging is what brought people in and is what made me click on the video but looking at the comments clearly revealed that it was the honesty and realistic approach to building a morning routine that connected with the audience.

Looking at her recent uploads after it shows that her core audience has definitely grown and I look forward to following her journey.
