The real reason I started Orbit

How fixing one problem turned into a lifelong mission

When I started Orbit, I just wanted to fix one problem:

Creating is lonely as hell.

It’s easy to feel like you’re making things in the dark. You care deeply, but the algorithm doesn’t. You chase numbers, lose motivation, and wonder if you’ll ever make it.

I get it because I’ve lived it.

Before Orbit, I spent years working as a filmmaker in New York—shooting indie films, commercials, and music videos. It sounds cool (and sometimes it was), but the freelance grind left me exhausted and isolated. Eventually, I burned out, moved back to Vienna, and took a safe marketing job—only to realize that stable wasn’t the same as fulfilling.

Then COVID hit, and suddenly, I had too much free time. So, I did what any sane person would do: I started a YouTube channel about Dungeons & Dragons. Without a plan and without pressure. Just creating for fun.

And just from making 3 videos I knew this was it. I want to create videos on my terms that people enjoy and learn from. Without dealing with client feedback and budget discussions. Just create what inspired me.

But the real unlock came not from the content but from the community. I joined an online course to learn “how to YouTube” and stumbled into something I never knew I needed: a group of people that was just a crazy as me. Friends who understood the madness. People who cared more about the craft than the view count.

That feeling of real connection was the seed that grew into Orbit.

Today, Orbit is a home for creators who care deeply about their work, but refuse to chase growth at all cost. It’s practical, it’s honest, and most importantly—it’s human.

Through the show, newsletter, free tools, and many one-to-one conversations Orbit helps you stop guessing, start growing, and stay inspired.

With that I hope to build something bigger with a lasting impact. To build Europe’s creator capital right in Vienna. A village for creators not a content factory. A place to create with friends.

Tell me why you started your channel?
