I spend 24h with Colin and Samir

Or how to host the best creator event ever.

Ooops - this is officially the first Orbit Newsletter that is late. But let’s just blame time zones for that 😅

As soon as Colin and Samir announced they would host an event for creators in NYC, I knew I would go. No matter what.

So as soon as the date was set I booked a flight, without even having a ticket to the thing. Because I knew the boys would be putting on a good show and it would be a room full of people like me. Slightly crazy and fully into the creator lifestyle.

So what made Press Publish NYC stand out so much?

They scheduled time to make connections

Any other conference has multiple stages with back to back presentations, that all sound good but rarely deliver. Giving attendees fomo and little time to make new connections or deepen existing ones.

In contrast Colin opened the show with very clear words:
”One of three things will happen today. Either we will talk to you, or people will talk to each other, or you will talk to each other. If anything else happens something went wrong.”

Making it crystal clear what the focus of the event was. Talking with creators, face to face.

Everything else was well done too.

The guests, the branding, the swag and more was all on a level that is outstanding for an event happening for the first time.

What was interesting to observe is that they didn’t share much of who would be on stage that day keeping it actually a surprise who the special guests would be.

You might already know it by now but the first guest that most people expected was:

Casey Neistat

The second surprise guest was a lot more unexpected. I thought maybe they bring in Jimmy, MrBeast or Ryan Trahan but instead they brought DOAC host Steven Bartlet on stage.

Having quite an interesting conversation around optimizing the little things to get big results.

From everything on the agenda there was just one thing missing. A live session of Creator Support.

But I hear rumors that this format is getting on a brand new stage, soon.

I’ll be sharing more detailed takeaways in the coming weeks but for now you can check out what success looks like to a creator who seemingly achieved it.
