Are you ready to launch
How to launch a channel, a course and a new life
We are only 3 days away from the first public episode of Orbit.
The Podcasts with David Ritt turned out really well and I can’t wait to share it with you. This is only the soft opening to test the waters and to build up the library. More on that below
How to launch a channel
This whole year I’ve been building towards launching a new channel, that has one clear focus. To connect creators in Europe. and while there is plenty of advice out there on how to grow an audience, there is little to no advice on how to actually launch a channel from scratch.
So here is my personal checklist.
I. Test your idea
Create a test project. Whatever it is you want to share create an MVP with minimal resources to see if the idea is worth pursuing.
I called David last November to ask: Hey do you want to try something?
II. Create Momentum
Mention the project to anyone who might be interested. That gives you an opportunity to refine how you present the project and shows you if people care
Publish some low lift short form content to build awareness. Just get the ball rolling before the official launch. That way you don’t actually start from 0.
Release a Trailer - or two. If you have an existing channel make a video to announce the new thing. On the new channel publish some content that is just there to capture peoples attention.
III. Share it with People you know will love it.
There is always someone more excited about the idea than you.
Along the way you will meet people who had some impact on the idea or who just want to see it succeed. Share it with them early so they can send it out as soon as it’s ready. If that isn’t the case you might want to go back to step I.Everyone on season 1 is a Slow Growth Alumni so I shared it with Matt who is happy to include it in the newsletter.
There are many more steps to this process but I hope this helps you launch something whenever you are ready.
Laura Kampf leaves Germany
Over the last few years Laura's content has become a real staple in my watch history. It's been fascinating to see how her channel has evolved with the projects she builds and the team she brought together. Now it's time for her to start a new chapter and it feels like the end of an era that makes me equally excited and sad.
I'm gonna miss the house, the dog and Felix the camera man but I'm sure the new adventures will make up for it. No matter where she ends up settling I hope to to have her on the show eventually to talk about her creative journey.
Make money with what you know
If you ever thought of launching a course you want to listen to this episode of the Creators On Air. It’s a Conversation with John Meese, the author of Always Be Teaching. He helps creators turn their wisdom into wealth by building a profitable online education business. What struck me the most was that he suggest to start with a really expensive version of what you want to build first and over time develop cheaper products.
