The Process of Making Videos

While I called out the end of Colin and Samir’s Creator Support a few weeks ago they just proved me wrong by publishing a full video going in depth on a viewers question. Taking the opportunity to fully explain how they make videos, what the process looks like and stages each video goes thru. While it might look like they just meet up with a given creator sit down and have a chat, the process is actually a lot more detailed and involves people at every stage.

Ideation is the first and most crucial step of the process. Spending time here makes sure they make videos people want to see.
Packaging means the design of title and thumbnails to stand out and give the video a long shelf life.
Pre-Production is all the research the team does on guests. Having an extensive research doc gives them better grounds for the direction of the interview and helps to decide which questions to ask before they even sit down.
Production is actually the shortest part of the process in most cases.
Post-Production is when the final video actually takes shape and gets transformed from a raw conversation into a finished video.
Distribution doesn’t just mean to press publish. It also means promoting it with clips and shorts long after the initial video went out.
Opportunities are all the things that happen because of the video being public. New sponsors, guests requests or job applications.
A lot can come from publishing and you should have guidelines how to handle that.

What is your process of making video?

Can Europe Beat America?

After two worldwide Art Collaborations Ten Hundred is at it again. But this time he is bringing 9 creators to his Studio instead of sending one artwork around the world. At the beginning of May he is pitting 5 Artists from the USA against 5 from Europe in an epic art battle with lots of fun challenges. What those challenges are will be determined by the audience as well, with suggestions in the comments and the live stream.

Do you think Europe beat the USA?

Creating Better Videos Faster?

Following Ben Kaluza has been really interesting over the last few months. If you have any interest in video editing and swiped around on social you have definitely seen videos where he shares tips and tools that make editing easier.

One of these improvements is to spend less time scripting by just recording a quick voice instead of going right to filming. This is much less daunting and helps to spot what makes sense, what needs to improved and what can be scrapped. With that in place you can start layering in graphics, sound effects, and music. This gives you a first impression of the flow and you can make adjustments to your script as needed. Now you can record a talking head video that needs much less editing and the video is already half done.

Have you tried an approach like this before?

Simon Høiberg said on threads:

According to YouTube, an estimated 50M people will start a YouTube channel in 2024. Less than 2% will cross 10K subscribers. YouTube got very competitive. But if you can reach 10K subscribers, you've outlasted 98% already. Keep pushing forward 💪
