Blowing up, Laura Kampf and AI Tools
Hard to believe it’s the last full week of April - sharing my weekly milestones has been nice and from now on I’ll be continuing this idea solely on LinkedIn every Monday.
This week April 22-28 I wanted to

Can you still Blow Up on YouTube?
To answer this question I called up four creators who all published a break out video in the last few months.
Aprilynne Alter has taken the creator education space by storm with her videos, distilling months of research into very comprehensive content.
Rick Bebbington unintentionally tapped into people's psychology with a filler video about cameras.
Lauro Dominici managed to get over 500,000 views on his second video that is basically silent.
Elsa Scola managed to cross that barrier twice with completely different formats, proving that you can always pivot as long as you keep the audience in mind.
At first I was just curious how life changes as a creator after hitting big numbers, but in the process I also learned quite a bit about what makes a break-out video. To no one's surprise, you have to give people a reason to click the video in the first place and immediately follow up that promise with a good video. Promises of transformation, information, and outcomes often compel a large audience to find your content. Lastly, there's nothing wrong with taking previously successful ideas and adapting them to your own style, as long as you bring your own insights along with it.
So let’s see if this video about blowing up will blow up too.
If it doesn’t I have at least 8 more chances until the end of the year 😅
Laura Kampf Stars From Zero
Laura Kampf starts everything over in her new part-time residence, Los Angeles. On this new chapter of her creative journey, we're reminded of the power of returning to one's roots. Shifting from working with a team on the house project back to being a solo creator. Her willingness to embrace the challenges and opportunities of this move makes her a standout in the maker space.
It’s fascinating to get perspective on the contrasts between the US and Germany offering us a glimpse into the intersection of culture and creativity. Through her view, we see not only the differences but also the universal threads that unite makers worldwide.
Personally I’m really excited to see the evolution of this space over the next few months.
The State of AI Tools in Podcast Production
The Forum for Journalism and Media in Vienna recently hosted a panel with two prolific Podcasters Tatjana Lukáš and Christian Jakubetz, who discussed how they leverage AI tools in their workflow. While some tools mentioned were familiar, they also shared hidden gems and valuable insights into their specific uses.
-Research starts with Peplexity the go to chatbot and search engine for research. Not only does it give you relevant answers but it also shows you the sources of information.
-Recording is done in Riverside.fm* the standard tool for remote recordings. Delivering high quality audio and video from you and your guests.
-For Clean Up Cleanvoice or Auphonics is used to remove any noise, uhm, ahs and long pauses.
-Editing is still done by hand, as no algorithm is able to replace the truly creative work at this stage.
-Repurposing can be done with Castmagic for transcripts, show notes and text based social posts
-Short Form Videos comes from riverside* or opus clips*.
Personally I already use riverside for all my remote interviews and just started to try out cast magic which looks very promising—giving me relevant description and tags for YouTube plus content options for LinkedIn and threads.
One thing that comes through no matter who I talk to is that at this point AI is a helper that can do tasks an assistant would do but it can not do the actual work of editing the content and shaping it for your audience.
But how do you use AI in your production? Are there any tools that have dramatically changed your workflow do let me know.
