The simple truth about consistency
DJ Lilicay, Max Joseph and Sam Kolders return
This week showed me that all the effort of the last months is starting to compound. I attended my first official YouTube Event, got recognized in the wild as “the guy who hosts creator meetups” and booked an interview with one of my dream guests.
Persistence is one aspect of this but what really made a difference in my mind is repeatedly pitching to people what it is I actually do—building a home for creators.
Or to quote Daniel Priestly: A pitch is a powerful set of words that you deliver to the world again and again. Eventually, […] you will get what you pitch for.

The Summer of Consistency
Consistency is key. At least that's what everyone tells you if you want to grow on social media. But it's also a surefire way to burnout and publish content that could use more time to develop.
If anything, I'm consistently inconsistent 😅
As an alternative, I like to think in seasons – being consistent for a period of time to test assumptions, create controlled experiments, and work towards a clear goal.
That's why the next 12 weeks will be The Summer of Consistency, where the goal is to publish a long-form YouTube video every single week.
Goals for The Summer of Consistency:
Challenge myself to edit videos in less time while maintaining quality since editing time is a major roadblock on the path to consistency.
Improve my overall packaging of the videos and find a killer thumbnail formula.
Increase the average views per video and overall watch time to finally unlock monetization on YouTube.
While I’ve passionately argued against consistency in the past, I can’t dispute the fact that almost every conversational podcast I listen to or watch comes out on a weekly basis. So, if what you do doesn’t work, maybe try something different.
To kick things off, the first video went live yesterday, featuring an interview with DJ Lilicay. The German-born artist with Polish and Japanese roots was able to get 2 million views in 3 months—just by sharing music she loves. In our conversation, we talk about her path to YouTube, how metrics and comments affect her output, and her dream project.
And this is just the first entry in this experiment. If you have any feedback (good or bad), let me hear it. In the end, I’m doing this to help you take the next step.
Let’s see what The Summer of Consistency brings!
The Correct Response
A while back, Jack Conte discussed Casey Neistat’s iconic “Make It Count” video on the Digital Spaghetti Channel, only to be berated by comments calling him out for never mentioning the editor of it, Max Joseph.
To rectify this wrong, Max was invited to do not just one episode to talk about the edit in question but also to go frame by frame through his new series on happiness.
Not only is this a brilliant lesson in how to respond to the comment section, but all three videos are an absolute goldmine to improve your internet filmmaking skills.
The Story of Recovery
While I’m not one of the creators who has ever aspired to be Sam Kolder or even make travel films on YouTube, this video answering the question: "What happened to Sam Kolder?" is an undeniable beacon of creativity and shows the power of storytelling through filmmaking.
For almost 8 minutes, he had me fully paying attention to every word, every cut, and every image as he recounts his journey from college to fame, to burnout, and recovery.
It’s a testament that anyone with a passion for a craft can put in the time and master their chosen skill.
If you need a dose of inspiration to keep going, watch this video and tell me how it made you feel.
