Creator Science, Being Weird and finding your Style

If you are in Vienna join us for a Mini Retreat next Friday.

Last weeks video with Louise has quickly become the most viewed Interview on the channel in no small part to all the feedback I’ve gotten on the Intro before publishing.

Involving people early is one way I’ve been able to improve overall quality and consistency. If you’re working on something try sharing it with a few people before it’s done.

Unlock Success

As a creator, you always hear about the importance of consistency, yet in my conversation, I never found that consistency is actually what leads to success. Finally, I found someone way more experienced to express it in a really succinct way.

Publishing consistently doesn’t put you in the top 10%. It is just the prerequisite to starting the feedback loop and getting the information you need in order to implement the changes to then grow and succeed.

Zack Honarvar

The Co-Founder of Creator Now, was on the Creator Science Podcast and shared a lot of insights into what factors lead to becoming a thriving content creator.

What he learned from 10,000 creators go through their platform is that the best creators:

  • continuously improve

  • avoid shortcuts

  • embrace failure

  • have a clear vision

But focusing on work ethic alone is not enough, he says. It's crucial to work on tasks that challenge you and offer the highest return on investment. Many people tend to work on comfortable tasks, avoiding uncomfortable or challenging ones that could make a significant difference.

The magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re avoiding

Be Weird to Get Views

It can be quite disheartening when you finally hit that publish button but your video gets lost at the bottom of the algorithm, giving you absolutely no views.

UltraSharp, a small channel with a viral hit, figured out the best way to not let that happen is by being unapologetically you. Lean into your weirdness.

Think about it – the same topics have been covered countless times, but what makes your version special is you. Lean into your uniqueness and make your content as distinct as you are.

By adding personal touches and a bit of eccentricity, you can make something truly engaging.

Now Find Your Style

You probably don’t just turn on a camera and have a style. It’s something you develop over time, or as Grace Newlands, a Photographer and Cinematographer from Australia, puts it:

“finding your style = learning how to break the rules within reason.”

This video had around 4K views and fewer than 250 subscribers when I watched it. A week later, it’s gone up to 21K views, and her channel is about to break the 1,000-subscriber mark, probably making her eligible for monetization.

If you are curious about her 5-part process, I highly recommend you give it a click.
